IMG_3668We’ve ended up with a full week off from classes thanks to the snow and freezing cold. As nice a break as that is, cabin fever set in early and I’ve been searching for ways to use my time productively. I’m the type of person who thrives on a schedule and is terrified of free time. I feel like I need to use every moment doing something productive. Relaxing means wasting time in my mind, and I always feel guilty about that.

So in an effort to do something other than sit in my dorm all day I’ve been visiting (breaking into) the studios all week to stretch, sing, or work on monologues. Can’t say I’ve really accomplished much but doing something is better than nothing, I suppose. And now that I’m back in the warmth of my dorm I’m going to make an effort to queue up some belated travel and outfit posts for this blog!

Stay warm xx

Snow Daze

My prayers to the snow spirits have been answered with a foot of snow and two days without classes! Unsurprisingly, I’m not too distraught about how having class, though sitting in my dorm for 48 hours straight isn’t my favorite thing either. I’ve been using the time to catch up on homework and read. So much reading! I’ve contemplated doing one of those 50 Book Challenges or at least keeping track of what I read this year, but I think we all know my track record when it comes to following through on these things (*ahem* this blog *ahem*).

Still, I’m always willing to give it a shot. So here’s what I’ve read (and that I can remember) so far this year:

The Curse Workers series (Holly Black): books 1-3
The Modern Faerie Tales (Holly Black): books 1-3
The Darkest Part of the Forest (Holly Black)
The Selection series (Kiera Cass): books 1-3
The Blood of Eden series (Julie Kagawa): books 1 & 2, waiting for the 3rd to arrive!
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (Mindy Kaling)
The Troupe (Robert Jackson Bennett)
Wonder (R.J. Palacio)
Harvesting the Heart (Jodi Picoult)
150 Pounds (Kate Rockland)
China Dolls (Michelle Yu & Blossom Kan)
-Musicals: My Fair Lady, Little Women, 42nd Street, The Fantasticks, Gypsy, Guys and Dolls

Finished The Eternity Cure this morning and the final book of the trilogy is being shipped right now! Excited to read it!

You may notice a trend. I’m a big fan of fantasy: the more faeries, vampires, or princesses, the better! If that’s not your thing, fine, but no judgement please.

This Is Gospel

Hello February! This is the second week of university classes and I’m still trying to get into the swing of things. I’m taking 21 hours this semester, with a big block of International Business classes on Monday and Wednesday. Not the ideal but I can deal with it for the three and half months or so.

I’ve had a couple people asking lately for the secret to taking so many hours. ‘How do you keep up with the work’ and ‘do you sleep’ are the usual questions! Unfortunately, I don’t have any fancy secret method. It always sounds like more work than it really is. And if I don’t get much sleep it’s usually from my wasting time on the web, not struggling to catch up on work. I guess the “secret” would be that half the time I feel like I’m drowning and don’t have a clue what I’m doing. But I just keep plodding along, hoping I’m doing what the professors want! Probably not the best method but so long as it works…

Leaving you with this song before I head off to class. It’s nothing new but I heard the piano version for the first time yesterday and fell in love. It’s the anthem I need for the first few weeks back!
