A January Trip

Good morning! I’m writing to you from New York City where I’ll be staying for the next few days before flying off to London. Since I’m on a bit of a whirlwind trip for the next few weeks (and then back to school, ugh), posts will be pretty infrequent. I also just realized my SD card does not work with the laptop I brought, so any photos will be from my phone. Meaning I’ll (hopefully) have a ton of photos to post once I get back home! Meanwhile, hello low quality selfies…oh the struggle.

Anyway, I got to the city yesterday afternoon. It’s my first time traveling by myself so I was a little out of my element, but everything went fairly smoothly. Yesterday was mostly devoted to traveling but I also got to see Drunk Shakespeare! If you want spoilers just google the show but it is basically what the name suggests. Our drunk actor for the night played Macbeth and it was hilarious! Damn do I love theatre. Today is pretty low key. Going to the Met this afternoon to meet up with some friends. The rest of the week is mainly seeing shows and performing in a Senior Showcase with fellow MT majors. Wish me luck!

Hope 2015 is off to a smashing start for everyone!

I mention my major fairly often but as a reminder I’m studying Musical Theatre, International Business, and Dance at university. My dream is to be a performer. I’m not too picky on whether that means stage or screen, straight plays or musicals, theme parks or dancing. Really I’d like to do it all, but as long as I can make a living performing I will be thrilled. I’ve been pretty lucky so far and hopefully that luck continues through 2015 and beyond!

To give you an idea of some of the stuff I work on, here’s a student film I was part of this semester. I’m still pretty new to film and I have a lot to learn but it was an awesome script to work on with an equally awesome cast and crew!

And Now For Something Completely Different…

In 2014 I fell in love with 8tracks. For those of you not familiar, 8tracks is similar to Pandora, Grooveshark, or Spotify where you stream music and can listen to or create playlists. Well, I finally tried my hand at creating a playlist! Below is said playlist and a few recommendations. Enjoy!

Playlists I’ve had on repeat:

Nyx, Goddess of the Night

Rather belated photo set but these shots are from Halloween. I can never decide what I want to be in time to create a killer costume so I always end up throwing something together last minute. Fortunately I had this beautiful black prom dress hanging in my closet which provided the perfect canvas for me to try out some new makeup and styling ideas. You can’t tell since the photos are all black and white but my lipstick is actually a beautiful deep blue called Smoking Gun. For a color picture (and closeup of the makeup) you can check out my Instagram @fionaisabelle! The tattoos are hand drawn with liquid eyeliner, courtesy of myself and my friend Amy. I ended up deciding to be Nyx, Greek goddess of the Night, hence the stars and all black ensemble. I don’t know much about Nyx honestly, beyond the fact that she was a badass like most Greek goddesses. I love Greek mythology though my knowledge has dwindled over the past few years. Still I claim Artemis and Athena as my patron goddesses. They are everything I aspire to be and I send little prayers up to them every now and then.

Anyway, I’m hoping to get around to doing a few more impromptu photoshoots like this. I miss modeling (and styling). I’d love to start doing more “legit” modeling work but until then I’ll stick to the DIY amateur version! I’m grateful that there are so many platforms for amateurs like myself to put up photos. Even if it’s not professional quality, it’s a lot of fun. And that’s what really matters, right?

Let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see along these lines! I’m always open to theme suggestions and trying something new. And let me know in the comments what you think of Greek mythology or mythology in general! Do you have a favorite god or goddess?
